Wedding Planning Before You’re Engaged

If you are tired of waiting for your partner to propose, here are some things you can secretly start planning before you’re even engaged.

1. start looking for your photographer

If you are picky like me, finding the perfect photographer might take a long time. And after you’re engaged, you’ll probably want to take engagement photos right away! A lot of wedding photographers offer a free engagement session with their wedding packages, so it will save you time and money if you get your engagement and wedding photos done by the same photographer. This will also give you the chance to meet your wedding photographer and get more comfortable with them before your wedding day. So I would recommend picking out five photographers in your area that you love, and are in your budget. Then, when you get engaged, you’ll be ready to inquire without having to feel stressed and rushed!

2. go on pinterest for hours

You probably already have Pinterest, but if you don’t, nows the time to download it! There are so many gorgeous inspo pics on Pinterest. I would recommend scrolling wedding pins and getting an idea of what you like and don’t like. I don’t think you should commit to any design or theme choices until you’re engaged and you and your partner can decide together, plus you might change your mind by then. But I do think it would be helpful to get an idea of wedding vibes that you like.

3. start getting healthier, but only if you want to

I’ve heard of a lot of brides stressing out over their weight during the months leading up to their wedding. This makes me sad, because you should be enjoying your bridal era as much as you can, and you’ll probably have a lot of other things stressing you out, you don’t need your weight to be one of them. I know that’s easier said than done, but if you truly do want to change your weight before your wedding, the more time you have to do that, the easier it will be. So if you start making small healthy changes now, hopefully you can enjoy your engagement a lot more!

4. watch wedding planning tiktoks

Most people have no idea where to start when planning their wedding. There’s a lot of amazing wedding planners on TikTok that share really good advice. I would recommend starting here, especially if you haven’t been to many weddings and aren’t familiar with the structure of a wedding day. If you spend some time learning about where to start with your wedding planning journey, you won’t be as overwhelmed when you get engaged!

5. relax

I wouldn’t recommend doing much else before you get engaged. Your bridal era is so special. And you’re only going to get to plan your wedding once. So you should be sure of all of your decisions and your partner should be part of that. But if you’re really antsy, you can start with the four things I listed. Happy wedding planning!
